Were the twins killed because Mrs Johnstone told them they were twins or because of something else?

The twins could have been killed for a number of reasons, which one do you think it was?

1.The superstition-At the start of the play Mrs Johnstone gives Edward away to Mrs Lyons, but she makes Mrs Johnstone swear to the bible and tells her that 'If the Mickey and Edward find out that they are twins they will both be killed.

2.Linda-Linda makes two mistakes in the play the first being that she kisses Edward when she is married to Mickey making him angry, and the second is forcing Mickey to stop taking the pills, this makes him, uncontrollable in the end.

3.Sammy-Sammy kills a man with a gun and then runs away with Mickey before they get caught. Mickey sees where Sammy puts the gun, which he later uses to kill Edward.

Comment which one you think it was.

 

Should Mickey have gone to jail?

When Sammy shoots the man in the petrol station he knows he's in trouble, but Mickey is also taken to jail with Sammy even though he didn't do anything. Maybe it's because he ran away from the police with Sammy, but still a seven year prison sentence is way to harsh, don't you think?

If this hadn't happened and the police weren't so harsh the killing of both twins could have been prevented.

Edward and Linda

Linda could be to blame for many things in this play, but this one again is related to the killing of Edward and Mickey. I personally think the Linda was wrong to kiss Edward even though her and Mickey were married. This could have made Mickey angry and lead to him killing Edward.

The end of the tragic but thrilling play, this picture is where Edward and Mickey are both killed. This is a very moving part of the play where every character comes forward to sing a very sorrow song.

Was Linda right to make Mickey stop taking the pills?

Towards the end of the play Sammy shoots a petrol attendant, this leads to Mickey and Sammy going to jail. Mickey gets very depressed by this and has to take pills to help him.
When he gets home to Linda she tries to convince him to stop taking the pills and, eventually, Mickey gives in to her.
Later in the play, because Mickey has stopped taking the pills, he shoots and kills Edward with the gun the Sammy also killed with.
Do you think this is Linda's fault or is anyone else to blame for this terrible accident?

Mrs Lyons' Attitude

At the beginning of the play Mrs Lyons seems nice and kind towards Mrs Johnstone. As the play progresses she gets meaner and meaner. She fires Mrs Johnstone and then, when Mrs Johnstone is relocated with her family, Mrs Lyons tells her to move house again and accuses Mrs Johnstone of following her.
Do you think Mrs Lyons is being harsh or acting as she should do bearing in mind the situation?

Mrs Johnstone's Kids

At the start of the play Mrs Johnstone has seven kids, she then has twins and has nine, but she gives one away to Mrs Lyons.

Do you think it is wise of Mrs Johnstone to have more children or do you think she is being irresponsible?

Should Mrs Johnstone have given away her baby?

Around the start of the play a Gynaecologist visits Mrs Johnstone, who is expecting a baby, and tells her that she is going to have twins! Mrs Johnstone already has seven children and can't afford to feed more.

Mrs Lyons can't have children, and her husband doesn't want to adopt, so she tells Mrs Johnstone to give one to her. Mrs Johnstone is reluctant at first but is then persuaded.

Mrs Lyons tells her husband that she go pregnant just after he left to work, she would have the baby just before Mr Lyons came back, as he was gone for 9 months. Mrs Johnstone told her kids that the other twin had died at birth.

The problem was that Mrs Lyons now wants to get rid of Mrs Johnstone. She fires her from her work.

Mrs Johnstone shouldn't have given away her baby in the first place, but you can't blame her because she was told that she would see Eddie every day. It is also Mrs Lyons fault because she should have not begged for the baby and Mrs Johnstone was forced into it in the end.

What do you think should she have given away the baby and, if not, whose fault was it in the end?

Mrs Johnstone is forced to give one of her baby twins, Edward, to Mrs Lyons as she can't afford to feed both twins. Mrs Johnstone is reluctant at first but then is made to swear to the bible by Mrs Lyons. Mrs Johnstone lies to the other kids, telling them that the other twin died just after he was born.

The moment when Mickey and Edward officially became Blood Brothers, although they don't know the possible consequences!
